THIS WEEKβS THEME
Sharing What We Have
Sometimes we think we need to have a lot before we can make a difference.
But even a small contribution can become meaningful when we are willing to share what we have.
THE STORY
The Boy Who Shared His Lunch
One day, a large crowd gathered to listen to a Teacher who was travelling from place to place.
Many people had come from different places because they wanted to hear him and learn from him.
As the day went on, the people became hungry.
The Teacher asked his followers where they could find enough food for everyone. There were thousands of people, but there was very little food available.
Someone noticed a young boy in the crowd. He had five small barley loaves and two fish.
It was only a small amount of food for such a large crowd.
One of the Teacher’s followers said, βThere is a boy here with five barley loaves and two fish. But how can that feed so many people?β
The Teacher asked everyone to sit down.
He took the five loaves and two fish, looked up to heaven, and gave thanks to God. Then, he began distributing the food to the people. A miracle happened! The small amount of food became enough to feed everyone.
Everyone ate until they had enough.
When they had finished, the Teacher asked his followers to collect what was left. They gathered twelve baskets of leftovers.
The boy had only a small amount to give. He could have kept it for himself.
Instead, he shared what he had.
Sometimes, even a small contribution can make a difference when we are willing to share what we have.
